Famous movie archers that hit the target

Watching television as an eight-year-old child, I was introduced to Robin Hood in the form of legendary actor Errol Flynn forty years after Adventures of Robin Hood debuted in 1938. On that rainy afternoon, I fell in love with the greatest movie archer of all time, Errol Flynn’s character, Robin Hood. While I appreciate the efforts of successive Robin Hoods portrayed by the likes of Kevin Costner, the original film and its star remain unrivaled.

Six years later, I met the second best movie archer, Rambo, on the big screen in First Blood Part II. Equally skilled with a bow and arrow as with any other lethal weapon, Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone, caused me and every other audience member to gasp at the precision he demonstrated as an archer during his mission. As much as I still loved Robin Hood and his lofty goal of equalizing wealth, I knew I wanted Rambo as my protector if I was ever in trouble.

Almost a decade later, I became acquainted with Chance Boudreaux portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme in Hard Target. Watching Boudreaux execute the savage bad guys in this movie with his bow and arrow was intense and as harrowing as any horror movie I’d seen up to that point. Boudreaux’s determination to prevail and the unique, unprecedented points of view provided by the film’s director, John Woo, cause Boudreaux to be ranked among the top three movie archers of all time.Keep looking, there’s more: “Robin Hood in reverse” and Run, Bernie, Run?
